How we actually build a verdict
- We pick a target. Either reader-requested, a new launch worth covering, or an incumbent due for a refresh.
- We gather public signals.Pricing pages, content counts, feature lists, billing descriptors, privacy policies, and the platform's own documentation. What it promises versus what is verifiable.
- We aggregate user sentiment. Reviews, forum threads, and community reports across sources, weighted toward recent and specific accounts over one-line ratings.
- We use the flagships ourselves. For the handful of platforms we push hardest (our top cam picks and top premium pick), the team uses the product and that experience informs the verdict. We do not claim to lab-test every site we list.
- One editor drafts, one editor counters.A second editor runs a devil's-advocate pass before anything publishes.
- We refresh on a cycle. Rankings move when a platform changes its pricing, billing, catalogue, or policy.
What we refuse to do
- Accept payment for a ranking position. Affiliate commission covers the bills, not the ranks. Rankings have never changed because of a commission change.
- Copy another publication's ranking. If you see our order match another site word for word, it is coincidence, and we will review it publicly.
- Publish a review without a named editor byline. Every piece has one editor who owns it and gets corrections at their email.
- Invent first-person testing we did not do, or quote performance numbers we did not measure. Our verdicts are editorial, built on public signals and aggregated sentiment, with hands-on input on the flagships we use.
- Hide updates. If a ranking shifts, the affected page reflects the change.
